Our Impact
For many Ukrainians who arrived in the UK seeking safety from war, starting over has meant far more than learning a new language or navigating unfamiliar systems. It has meant rebuilding their lives from the ground up, often while carrying invisible burdens of grief, loss and uncertainty.
At The Community Lab Initiative CIC, we provide more than just support, we create space for growth, connection and meaningful change. Over the past year, our work has helped over 30 individuals take confident steps forward: securing employment, improving their English, gaining qualifications and building a sense of belonging in Grantham and Sleaford.

“So grateful to The Community Lab Initiative for the warmth, support, and helpful sessions. They help you feel at home in a new country.”
We’ve seen skilled professionals reconnect with their purpose, like Anna, a qualified dentist who found the confidence and support to secure a job as a dental assistant. We’ve welcomed parents eager to improve their English while their children found friendship and familiarity through play. And we’ve stood alongside people as they faced the challenges of housing insecurity, job searching and adapting to life in a new country.
Through weekly support sessions, skills-based workshops, real-world experience like running a market stall, and one-to-one guidance, we’ve tackled barriers with practical action.
Our ESOL Business English course has a 100% completion rate. Participants move on to take up further training, volunteering, and jobs that align with their strengths, experience and ambition.
This isn’t charity. It’s community in action. Neighbours showing up for one another, professionals sharing their time and skills, and a growing network of volunteers and organisations helping families feel seen, supported and empowered to move forward.

It’s a friendly shoulder whenever you need it, a helpful piece of advice, care and support, and a place where you’re always welcome and greeted with a warm smile.”
